At 14:20 yesterday, 10 July 2013, police were called to an incident in the south Morton area of Carlisle, where a man was believed to have threatened someone known to him with a weapon. Armed officers were deployed as a precaution.
A 29 year old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and alleged firearms offences investigated. Following questioning by the police he was released without charge.
The initial report described a man being threatened by a gun, enquiries into the incident continue to establish what took place, and as yet no firearm has been recovered. Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to Carlisle Police Station.
